The Brisbane Broncos sent off 300-game veteran Scott Prince as a winner as they pipped the finals-bound Canterbury Bulldogs 16-11 at Lang Park on Thursday.
Corey Oates scored five minutes from time to put Brisbane into a winning lead, as Prince kicked the conversion in his final act as a Broncos player.
Oates opened the scoring for Brisbane on 33 minutes to cancel out Josh Reynolds’s try six minutes prior, as Canterbury finished the first half as 6-4 leaders.
But Brisbane claimed the lead when Jack Reed powered over 10 minutes into the second stanza, before Krisnan Inu levelled it all up at 10-10 six minutes later.
Trent Hodkinson booted a field goal to give the visitors a one-point advantage, but Oates burst over in the corner for his second try of the night.
There was some bad news for Brisbane as Josh Hoffman went off injured with a shoulder injury.
The result leaves the Bulldogs at risk of dropping down to sixth place, while Brisbane ends the season at 10th spot.
More to follow.
