Court date set for DPP’s fatal crash case (ABC) - ( 4U5TR4L14 )

A date has been set for the first court listing of a charge against Tasmania’s top prosecutor, Tim Ellis

Launceston woman Natalia Pearn, 27, died in a three car crash on the Midland Highway in March.

Her car collided head-on with a Mercedes being driven by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Ellis, 58 year-old, of Mount Stuart in Hobart has been charged by summons with causing death by negligent driving.

The matter will be heard in the Magistrate’s Court in Hobart and has been listed for plea on October 1.

Causing death by negligent driving is an offence under the Traffic Act.

A first offence carries a maximum penalty of 12 months in prison and a $ 1,300 fine.
