Men in CCTV footage urged to come forward to help in Tracy Connelly murder case (ABC) - ( 4U5TR4L14 )

Victorian police have released CCTV footage of two people who may have information regarding the death of Melbourne sex worker Tracy Connelly.

Ms Connelly, 40, was found dead in her white van in Greeves St at St Kilda on Sunday, July 21.

She suffered upper body and facial injuries.

Ms Connelly had been living in the van for about a month.

Police believe just before 2am and was killed between 2am and 2:30am.

Police have released CCTV footage of a man who may have seen Ms Connelly and her killer walking along Greeves Street just before 2am (AEST).

The man is not considered a suspect, but police believe he could assist in the investigation.

The video shows the man walking along Vale Street towards the intersection of Greeves Street, then back along Vale Street towards St Kilda Road a few minutes later.

Police would also like to speak to the driver of a dark Ford ute seen in the the Vale and Greeves street area between 2:20am and 2:30am.

Again, the driver is not considered a suspect in the investigation.

Last month police said they had CCTV footage that showed Ms Connelly returning to her van between 1:30am and 2:30am with at least one other person.

Detective Inspector John Potter says all information received will be treated confidentially.

He says he understands the pair may be reluctant to to answer questions about what they were doing in the area at that time.

“I want to reassure these people we have no interest in why they were in the area at the time,” Detective Inspector Potter said.

“We simply want to speak to them in relation to anything they may have seen that could help provide some answers in relation to what happened to Tracy.

“I urge the man in the CCTV and the driver of the ute to contact us.

“The smallest piece of information might help provide the answers we’re looking for.”

Ms Connelly’s death sparked an outpouring of community concern about the safety of sex workers.

Her partner, who was normally her look-out, was in hospital on the night she was killed.
